About me
I am James Caulfield. I was born in New York, USA, and have been living in Amsterdam since 1990. While I was studying for my master's in Clinical Psychology at the University of Amsterdam, academics and senior staff in the public and social service institutions I worked at asked me to translate or edit texts that dealt with a variety of subjects, such a Parkinson's Disease, neurological conditions, forensic sciences, developmental disorders, addiction, and business in general. These requests increased from occasional assignments to a small business, which I started running fulltime in 2005.
Education
Masters degree in Clinical psychology from the University of Amsterdam, the Netherlands
Bachelors degree majoring in psychology from Adelphi University, Garden City, New York
Experience
The combination of my language skills and knowledge of psychology, general medicine, human resources, and finance enables me to provide high-quality copy.
However, company-specific and preferred terminology also play an important role in ensuring that you receive the quality you expect. If you have a multilingual glossary, I'll be happy to use it, if you don't, I'll be happy to create one with you.
I can work with common file formats, such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, or PDF. The translation will be sent back to you in the format you delivered-with the exception of PDF files that will be sent back to you as MS Word files.
My translation tool of preference is Déjà Vu, a user-friendly and intuitive translation memory and terminology management tool that handles a variety of file formats and is fully compatible with Trados.
